Forest Green by Dasya Willis
It’s the color that goes the most unseen
It winds through the forest
Yet it’s passed by every tourist
“It’s just another color you see everyday,
It’s too ordinary”, they say
You see it everywhere, yet it goes unnoticed
A color hidden in plain sight that gets missed
Found it nearly every child’s drawing
Through every ordinary day clawing
It’s way to the surface of the dirt
Yearning simply to be seen under all the hurt
Of being walked all over and disregarded
Wishing not to be a color that’s discarded
It’s the first sign of growth in every plant
It’s lifegiving and peace it grants
So I will always love the color forest green
For it’s the color that goes the most unseen
