Night Fall by Frank Almonte
The sun has set, colors faded
Traces of color, and stars are shaded
The trees stand great against the darkened sky
The birds are settled, only owls fly
The blanket of deep rich ebony is profound
To see it takes no sight
To hear it takes no sound
The only color against the darkness is white
The dots of stars, simple but bright
It has no name, it bears no title
It’s simple but overwhelming, active but idle
Shadows dance against the solace of the moon
Twilight ends and sun comes soon
Beauty soars and shimmers in the night
Soundlessly, wordlessly
Breaking internal sight
So if you ever look up, when the moon is tall
Listen closely, and you’ll hear its call
