She is Our Country by Julia Pederson

She has walls to keep out the hate
She has deserts full of snakes
She gives trust with such mistake
She has lives to protect for goodness sake
She has gates to keep out the fake
She has laws to keep the bad at bay
She has harbored the needy with such dismay
She has seen the rights of many taken away
She gives unity under a name not equally the same
She is slowly bleeding for those giving blame
She is taken for granted without any shame.

She has fulfilled dreams of many
She gives hope to those without any

She has seen the hate go on every heading
She weeps for those gone on without living
She is not one without a legitimate fear
She gives truths we don’t want to hear
She is the home with many bravely in fear
She is a protector of rights with no tear
She has seen the horrors of our own creating
She has seen justice taken without justly thinking
She gives grace for good-hearted mistakes
She wants us to be one in the same
She has grown to love all under any name
She is our country with many to blame.

She takes equally and gives plenty
She has freedoms for those needing
She has lost and won battles so fleeting
She feels the beat of the wild stampeding
She lives as the wild mother with heeding
She has seen cities grow taller than needing
She has seen terror fall into peace treaty
She has never stopped fighting the greedy
She has honored those protecting the many.
