Out of Place by Gabby Bryant

When feelings misalign, I stand,
A stranger in a crowded land.
How will I push? How will I be?
How will someone truly see me?

I just want to go home, not try,
Afraid of every glance that slides by.
Rejected whispers fill the air,
No hello, no warmth, no care.

Ignore the echoes of my face
How did I fall into this space?
How did I become like them?
Trapped in places I condemn…

But somewhere deep, the voice is loud
To stand apart is still allowed.
Out of place, but still my own, I’ll find a path, carve out my home.
