There’s something to be said about the sun
Either blazing or wanting
When summers arrived, it's in full effect
All I can do is hide
Shield my eyes from blatant rays, yearn for cooler times
But when days of red and yellow come to pass
Warmth of the sun falls from sky high
Refracting through window panes
Lighting up dust particles,
Dancing in front of my eyes
Sprawled across my sun-doused stairs like a cat
I hope it’s embrace would engulf me and never pass
Though, pass it does to my dismay
But my wish for its embrace never seems to go away
I sit on the steps where it used to bleed,
Pouring through the window and warming my seat
Now the stair is cold.
And as days pass the sun seems to go down quicker
Taking its warmth with it and leaving me to shiver
To take solace in my covers
Watching the candle across the room glimmer
It's almost like a memory–this little flame
Why does it seem so much brighter in this one moment
Than the sun throughout the entire day?
But I’m sure, once summer comes around
I’ll hide from that great star again
As I cannot bear to be too hot nor too cold
I can only hope to feel it's perfect warm embrace
As fall once more comes to pass
Waiting for its radiance to engulf me again at last
I only hope its rays will be as inviting as I remember
And my appreciation does not wane and flicker
